New Guinea coffees are one of our favorite coffees, an excellent cup of coffee with amazing sparkle and spiciness. These coffees are very difficult to get, coming from small coffee farms deep within the rain forests of New Guinea, the mountains ranging in height between 4,200 and 6,000 ft. above sea level, are difficult to access therefore cultivation is not any easier thing. These beans work very well in espresso blends.
Because of the steep terrain New Guinea farmers are familiar with organic cultivation methods in the mountainous regions still protected by bird-friendly canopies of natural shade-producing native tree and shrub species. Papua New Guinea was among the earliest regions to adapt to -- and be certified internationally -- to certifiable organic cultivation standards. Numerous international organic certification organizations have licensed Papua New Guinea coffees.
It is a country where vehicular travel is still treacherous, often requiring extended excursions by four-wheel vehicles just to reach coffee-cultivating communities. Many communities are isolated and inaccessible for long stretches, particularly during the six-month-long rainy season.
